Hi, I’m Kathryn

I was born and raised in Arizona and have lived all over the state. I grew up in southeast Arizona, lived in Flagstaff to attend NAU, (moved to Maine for gradschool but couldn’t handle the winters), and ended up back in Arizona.

A little about me…

I graduated with my BSW at Northern Arizona University and my MSW at the University of New England. Since gaining my BSW in 2011, I’ve been working with children and families. I spent about four years providing therapy and counseling services to children and families in their homes and then spent another five years working in community mental health with children, families and adults.

What I’ve discovered…

Is that through this work, I’ve found that I really enjoy working with children, particularly providing play therapy. I’ve seen the most profound change and growth happen through working with children and their parent/caregiver. This combined work allows for meaningful and, honestly, faster change that I found a parent or family is looking for.

I am also passionate about women’s mental health. I’ve spent many years of my career working with women in different phases of their life and dealing with different stressors. Many women face pressure and are dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, high pressure careers, difficulty in relationships or with family, etc. Questions about identity, values, and purpose can bring anxiety, self-doubt, or even a sense of being “stuck”.

What We Can Do Together

Play Therapy

I’ve been working with children for the past fourteen years in so many different settings. I’ve gone from non-profit work at Big Brothers Big Sisters, to in home therapy for children/families, to behavioral work in a daycare setting, to now providing play therapy. Through all that experience, I’ve found my passion in play therapy and have seen the positive effect and change it can have in a child and their families life.

Parent Coaching

All those years of working with children of course include working with parents! In my work with parents I’ve noticed themes that continually appear which are: parents are doing their best, trying their hardest, and just want to see their child do well and be happy. I can provide a place to talk about the conflicting feelings of parenting and teach you skills to build connection and work with your child’s nervous system and dysregulation.

Individual Therapy

I’ve also spent the last almost seven years working with individuals of all ages, experiences and backgrounds. Through that experience, I’ve found a passion in working more and more in the realm of women’s mental health. Whether it’s societal pressures, life transitions, relationships and families, everyone has a unique perspective and experience. I see my role as helping you make sense of and understand that experience and how it impacts you now.

My focus when providing therapy is to be in the moment with you.

Therapy can be a place that is so vulnerable, honest, and difficult. I want to show up with you every session and have you know that I am being present and curious about your experience.
